Furthermore; There are many definitions of diseases, I will mention, but a few of the definitions:

WHAT IS A DISEASE:

A disease is an abnormal condition of an organism that impairs bodily functions.
A disease can also be defined as an impairment of health or a condition of abnormal functioning.
An illness.
A condition of the body in which there is incorrect function due to heredity, infection, diet, or environment.
An involuntary disability; like alcoholism is a disease consisting of genetic, psychological, and environmental elements.

Diseases can also be classified into communicable diseases which are diseases that can easily be transferred from one person to another, either via air, water, close contact among individuals, e.t.c. And non-communicable diseases which can be hereditary or the way people live their lives, e.t.c.
Moreover, I will not be specific about which is communicable or not, I will only explain each types of common diseases in a general and simple term………So, read on, and always remember to come back for more…………

SLEEPLESSNESS:

Sleep is one of the basic necessities of life. It helps to restore the body to its normalcy after the day’s activities. It conserves energy. The minimum requirement for sleep varies from person to person. For an adult, eight hours per day is normal. For children, a longer period of sleep is required.

CAUSES OF SLEEP:

(1) Medical causes- Asthma, heart disease, disease of the digestive tract, e.t.c.

(2) Psychological causes- Over stress, frustration, anxiety, depression, panic, fear, e.t.c.

(3) Environmental causes- Poor bed sheet, light, uncomfortable maltrass, noise, environmental pollution, e.t.c.

(4) Chemical causes- Drug abuse, alcohol, smoking, snoring, e.t.c.

REMEDY:

(a) Get regular exercise especially in the morning and night.

(b) Take a warm bath before you sleep.

(c) Eat light food like coffee before bed time.

NOTE:

Exercise is very essential in human health. Everybody has to be involved in one active exercise at least once a day. People normally abstain from exercise. Mechanical transport takes them to work every morning; they sit hunched over a desk all day; return home in the evening after getting squeezed in a crowded bus or train, and then collapse into an armchair with a book until it is time for bed. Full advantage should be taken especially during holidays to cultivate the habit of exercising all parts of the body.
This also helps to strengthen blood circulation.

SMOKING:

The effects of tobacco on the human body are myriad; most of the evils in the society are associated with it. The effects of smoking largely depend on the nicotine content of the tobacco. Cigarette smoking is the most dangerous. The risk varies directly with the amount smoked per day. It coats the lungs with a considerable amount of tar, reduces one’s capacity for heavy exercise; and may, in excess, hinder the workings of the heart and of the eyes, may lead to cancer of the lung. Cigarette smoking ultimately destroys the body cells.

DRINKING:

Alcohol is remarkably poisonous to the body and should be avoided, since the more the quantity consumed, the more dangerous it is to the body. If taken in large quantities over a prolonged period of time, it can cause permanent damage to the brain and at times to the liver. Alcohol is good when taken moderately, but it is advisable not to take it at all.

ALOPECA:

This is a medical term for loss of hair. It can occur in both sexes. It could be due to myriad of causes including old age, drugs like cytotoxic drugs, e.t.c. The effect could be depressing especially in women. An effective treatment is yet to be found; but in most cases removal of the causative agent reverses the condition.

AMENORRHOEA:

Normal menstruation usually stops between the ages of 46 and 50 years. This is called menopause. A menorrhea is the medical term used to describe the absence of menstruation. It could be physiological (e.g. puberty, pregnancy, lactation, menopause) or pathological as in prolonged stress, an ovulation, chronic debilitating illness, some drugs, e.t.c. In each case, consult your gynecologist.

BOILS:

A boil is a small pus formed on the outer layer of the skin as a result of infection by bacteria. Boils are not serious infections, but they may be occasionally troublesome. When this happens, warm water could be used to dab it every four hours; if it continues after some few days kindly see your doctor.

COMA:

Coma is the state of unconsciousness. It could be as a result of several causes including an alcoholic binge, diabetes, severe hypertension, injuries to the brain ( following a road traffic accident, a fall from a height, e.t.c.), drugs ( especially habits from drugs), e.t.c. a doctor’s attention is needed in each case.
